An established freelance photographer from Salt Lake City, Utah, Jason Christensen specializes in Nature & Landscape Photography. He is a published Artist with images distributed in a variety of venues and formats.
Originally a trained illustrator working in all mediums, Jason ultimately developed a passion for outdoor photography. He began shooting 35mm format in 1995, but realizing the powerful artistic advantages of capturing larger images, he now shoots 4×5 large format photography.
As demonstrated by the subject and quality of his work, Jason has profound admiration and respect for nature and our environment. At every photo location, he seeks to capture a unique, perfect image in time wherein viewers can feel like they are actually experiencing the emotion of the moment.
Jason prefers the beauty of natural light in his photographs, using no digital enhancements to create artificial effects. In other words, “what he saw is what you get.”
Through photographing nature’s subtle light, Jason expresses his own abiding passion for life.
“I clearly recall seeing Jason Christensen’s work for the first time years ago in Springdale, Utah, just outside Zion National Park,” says Director Scott Reither. “The luminescence of the prints and the amazing clarity and sharpness of the photographs really struck me! I liked that Jason was not only shooting large format film but printing traditionally to Ilfochrome, which has such a deep beauty to it. Several years later while assisting Bartram Donovan with selecting landscape artists for an epic collection, Christensen was an obvious photographer to approach. Now, several more years later, I still feel that Jason has some of the strongest traditional landscape images of the West.”
